Valkeakosken työväenopisto perustettiin jo vuonna 1924. Alun perin opiston tehtävä oli opettaa työväestölle tarpeellisia tietoja ja taitoja. Monien muutosten kautta opisto on laajentunut seudulliseksi Valkeakoski-opistoksi.
Information
Register for our courses in advance online or by phone. When you register, you commit to paying the course fee.
If the course is full, register for the waiting list. We will contact you if a place becomes available. If possible, we may open a new group.
If you’re unsure whether the course is suitable for you, our course planners or customer service will be happy to help. You may attend one session without registering. However, please note that if you do not register in advance:
- the course may fill up and you may not get a place
- the course may be cancelled if there are not enough participants
- advance registration is always required for online courses and short craft courses that meet only a few times.
If your course fee is paid by your employer or another organization, please provide the payer’s name and contact details in the designated section of the registration form.
By giving us permission to send you updates and marketing messages during registration, you can receive information about our upcoming courses and events by email.
Browse our course selection and register here.
The course will begin as scheduled, unless otherwise notified. If the course is cancelled or if there are changes to the start time or location, we will inform you by text message (SMS).
The course will start if there are at least 7 registered participants. Some courses may require a larger minimum group size. We may also offer small group courses (3–6 participants), which have a higher course fee.
If the course is full, you can register for the waiting list. If possible, we may open a new group.
Please note that we send text messages only in case of changes or cancellations.
If you need to cancel your course registration, you can do so by:
- calling our customer service
- sending us an email
- using the “Check registration info” button at the bottom of your confirmation email.
We will not send you an invoice if you cancel your participation at least 7 days before the course starts.
If you cancel later, a cancellation fee of 50% of the course fee will be charged.
Not attending the course is not considered a cancellation. If you do not cancel your participation, the full course fee will be invoiced.
We cannot cancel the invoice or refund the course fee if you discontinue your studies after the course has started. However, you may transfer to another course if there is space available.
When you register for a course, you also commit to paying the course fee. The invoice will be sent to the address you provided.
Invoicing for autumn courses begins in October, and for spring courses in February. Short courses are invoiced after the course has ended.
If the course fee is €100 or more, it will be invoiced in two instalments.
If you register only for the spring term of a full-year course, you will be charged half of the full-year course fee.
Cancelled class sessions
On courses that meet at least 10 times per term, one session may be cancelled due to reasons beyond our control without a replacement session being arranged.
Benefits offered by employers
Before invoicing begins, you can pay your course fee with personal culture or sports vouchers or cards (or mobile payment) provided by your employer. For courses that begin mid-term, payment must be made before the course starts. Please check the payment instructions from your employer or service provider.
Employee benefits cannot be used for courses that have already been invoiced.
For courses invoiced in two instalments (€100 or more), you can pay the full amount by the end of September. If paying in instalments, the 1st instalment is due by the end of September, and the 2nd by the end of January.
Discount for unemployed persons and recipients of the basic guaranteed pension
If you are unemployed or receive a guaranteed pension and live in our service area, you may attend one course per academic year free of charge.
Present proof of unemployment or guaranteed pension at our service point or by email—in September for autumn courses and in January for spring courses (for mid-term courses, before the course begins).
You can request a certificate of your job search status from Job Market Finland (Työmarkkinatori).
This benefit does not cover material or kiln firing fees and cannot be used for fee-based courses marked as “Sales service courses”.
Discounted price (Study voucher)
Some courses are offered at a reduced price with government support. These courses are marked with “Opintosetelihinta” (study voucher) in the course fee section.
The discounted price applies to:
- pensioners
- immigrants
- unemployed persons
- persons with learning difficulties
- persons without a secondary level qualification
Kaikukortti (Culture Card)
If you have a Kaikukortti card, register for the course as usual and provide your card number to our customer service. Bring the card with you when attending the course.
Kaikukortti allows you to attend group courses free of charge if there is space in the group and the course starts as planned (meeting the minimum participant requirement).
The card does not cover material fees. It cannot be used for individual lessons.
Kaikukortti issued to an organization cannot be used to register for courses.
